A Proven Advocate in the Courtroom

Dan’s legal career is marked by significant courtroom experience. He has handled a wide range of cases, from misdemeanors to serious felonies, including Measure 11 offenses. His approach is thorough and client-focused—he listens attentively, scrutinizes evidence meticulously, and crafts strategic defenses aimed at achieving the best possible outcomes.

Diverse Legal Background

Before joining our firm, Dan served as a Deputy District Attorney in Marion County, Oregon, where he prosecuted cases involving property crimes, drug offenses, DUIIs, and Measure 11 person crimes. He also has experience in family law, having worked on divorce, custody, and child support cases. Additionally, Dan clerked for a Superior Court Judge in Anchorage, Alaska, and is admitted to practice law in both Oregon and Alaska.

Academic and Professional Involvement

Dan earned his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law, where he was actively involved in legal scholarship, serving as Editor-in-Chief for Willamette Law Online and as an editor for the Willamette Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution. He also competed in Moot Court. His undergraduate degree in Political Science is from Whitworth University, where he played college baseball. Dan is a member of the Marion and Deschutes County Bar Associations, the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Oregon State Bar Criminal Law Section. He also mentors aspiring attorneys through Willamette University College of Law programs and the Oregon State Bar.

Beyond the Law

Outside the courtroom, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and engaging in outdoor activities like hiking, golfing, hunting, and fishing. A devoted Seattle Seahawks and Mariners fan, he also explores the intersection of sports and law through his podcast, covering topics from professional sports to the U.S. Supreme Court.
