About Jason
Jason Wheeless is a seasoned criminal defense attorney with nearly 20 years experience defending clients in all types of cases from DUII to murder. Jason is also one of a very few Spanish speaking criminal defense attorneys east of the Cascades.
Background
Jason started his legal career in 2005 as a public defender in Pendleton, Oregon. After a few years of practice in Oregon he lived in Spain for a year where he worked in a public high school and studied foreign policy at the Universidad de Cadiz. Upon his return he lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he spent the next decade representing defendants in a wide variety of criminal matters in the state and federal courts of New Mexico. While in New Mexico Jason handled serious violent felonies, immigration crimes, state habeas corpus cases and some limited appellate work. In 2020 he returned to Central Oregon and worked as a public defender in Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson Counties handling all types of adult and juvenile delinquency cases.
Jason has significant trial and litigation experience and has guided literally thousands of accused people through the criminal justice system. Jason’s experience and skills make him an effective advocate for all of his clients.
